Where is the tinny music, where are the flashing letters in assorted colours?
There are already way too many fancy websites on the net.
They take forever to open. Once they do, you are told to install
additional software for them to operate correctly. Search engines
are confused by them. Users may wander around such websites forever
and still not find the information they were looking for. Instead,
they will have the chance to view extravagant animations and read
about "our friendly team of world-class experts" until frustration
drives them away. If impressing friends with your website's bells
and whistles is your main goal, then I am sorry to say:
This is not the kind of website we build.
What kind of websites do we build then?
Informational ones. For example, when designing a
plumber's website, we first of all consider their potential client
- we aim to address the plight of someone trying to cope with a
burst pipe at home, who searches Google for "burst pipe plumber
help", and whose main question is
"When can a plumber come and how much will it cost me?"
To this end, information must be distributed logically and clearly
within the website. Additionally, the website must open quickly
regardless of the browser and operating system being used, it must
cooperate well with search engines such as Google, Yahoo! or msn,
and, as far as possible, appear on the first page of the search
results.
How is this achieved?
By adhering to a strict regime.
- Source code
-
At the bottom of this page you can see two icons confirming that this website is free of coding errors. If a website does contain coding errors, it will probably still function, but much more slowly. What is worse, coding errors may make it difficult or impossible for search engines to index the site, thus rendering it invisible to potential clients.
- Browser optimization
-
The most popular browsers are Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Safari. Each of them operates differently. When designing a website we assume that the user has access to any of these browsers in their basic form, without plug-ins such as additional fonts or flash players. This attitude may somewhat limit the extra features of the website, but it does guarantee absolute reliability. All the coding and file formats we might use are first tested to see whether they are fully functional in all the browsers mentioned above.
- Search engines
-
These search the web and "remember" keywords. This process is called indexing, and enables us to find a specific website even when we do not know its precise address. The best website would be useless if it could not be found through the search engines. Our websites are search engine friendly. Everything from the coding to the links structure and sitemap access for bots is optimized to ensure easy and accurate indexing. In all this we strictly keep to the rules set down by Google.
Is this for you?
They say that if something cannot be found on the web - it
does not exist! If you are a service provider, freelancer, or run
your own business, if you want to be recognized, if you are looking
for new ways to get in touch with potential customers, if you want
the cheapest possible advertising - we can help. We can build up
your web presence easily, quickly and affordably. For details, see
"Offer".
Will we build a bespoke website written completely from scratch?
I sincerely doubt anyone does that any more. We don't, at
any rate. It's all about saving time and money, isn't it? This is
why we use open source templates. We tailor them to individual
requirements and rid them of unnecessary elements to ensure
compatibility with search engines and browers as described above.
The website you are reading right now has been built from a
template designed by Arcsin, who is acknowledged in the footer. You
can find more of them in "Templates", plus an external link to 2000
other designs. Any one of them can metamorphose into your very own
website.
